Down Under Restaurant in Amelia Island

I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. This restaurant is a little off the beaten path but worth the drive! The food is amazing. It’s delicious and presented well. The restaurant offers many interesting areas to sit and dine with great views. The wait staff is genuinely friendly and the menu offers a great selection of fresh seafood and delightful favorites like burgers and salads. Checkout the fun cocktail menu and long happy hour! This is a great destination if you’re headed to Amelia Island or on the way leaving the island.

Great service and food! The fried shrimp was amazing. The location is really cute and laid back.

I gotta say when I got to the restaurant I was a little disappointed it wasn’t troll themed after my friend told me it was under a bridge. You know because I love trolls, but I gotta say the service and food here is immaculate. Even though there’s no trolls, still sorely disappointed, it’s a great joint. And that Jordan girl is great too. She sympathized with my want for more troll ~ambience~ in the restaurant. She got my every need taken care of and reassured me she’d talk to the manager about bringing in a troll to ask riddles next time I visit this restaurant. Again, marvelous restaurant. I would’ve given you guys Five stars if you had some nice trolls to ask me riddles or to make be pay the troll toll!!! But it’s okay, maybe next time!

The food was good. The hush puppies are delicious. I ordered a salad the Romain lettuce was cooked and I got grilled chicken on top the kids got snow crab clusters. The atmosphere was nice. I recommend the Asian wings for a starter.

Our first experience was this last weekend and it was take out. We were not impressed with the amount of food for the price. The flavor was good but not "oh I gotta come back". We may give it another try when things get more normalized and see if the dine in experience is better.

Our 1st time here and I have to say when we are back this way we WILL be patronizing again! Paige took great care of us and when she wasn't the server at the next table did NOT mind assisting. The establishment not only gives military discounts but they also had one of the most awesome white chocolate Banana bread for a birthday dessert! This was a great way to wrap up my 50th birthday!

Great place. Food was amazing. Service was great on of the assistant managers was our server and was an abundance of information. You don’t want to miss out on this experience.

This was our first stop upon arriving on Amelia Island. We got there right when they opened at 11 a.m. to have lunch and decided to dine outside. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I ordered the Lunch Fried Oysters and upgraded to the She Crab soup for my side. My husband ordered the Shrimp & Grits. The oysters and soup were good, but the Shrimp & Grits stole the show. The shrimp was so tender and the dish was flavorful. My dish also came with hush puppies they initially forgot, so they brought extras. Those were yummy too. Emily took care of us and was so kind and attentive. We'll be sure to come back the next time we're in the area!

Husband and I enjoyed the meal. It is off the beaten path a little but the scenary was nice. It was raining so we could not enjoy the dock. We had the lobster bites for an app and it was good. My husband had a Shrimp Po Boy and I ordered garlic sauteed shrimp. My shrimp ended up being fried but it was still good so no complaints. Hush puppies were delicious. Only complaint is that some of the prices were a bit high. Overall good experience. Also our server was wonderful forgot to get her name.

Not my style. The seating was uncomfortable and the live band was so loud on the patio that it was intrusive in the restaurant. While the food was good the place was WAY too outdated on the inside to not find offensively over priced.

I had the ahi tuna appetizer ($9) with a side salad ($5), and was happy with it. The server told me the side salad is bigger than the $10 dinner salad. The main entrees are very small portions for the price, but it is on the water, so somewhat expected. There were nine people in my party. The others got entrees and appetizers. We were all still hungry when we left.

Damn this place is delicious. It's a bit out of the way but entirely worth it. They have lots of parking, good views, and two bars. Also have a large outdoor area. Can't go wrong coming here.

Very good.. Love the location, I peaceful.. our service was excellent, food was hot and tasty had grilled shrimp and scallops and both were nice size, scallops were large and tender.

Leaving town and we stopped here because it’s where the locals eat. We had the lunch special which was honey glazed salmon tacos with a side of black pepper homemade chips smothered in blue cheese love. Service was great. Food was amazing. Place is well worth visiting. We ate our caloric allotment for the day and it was worth it. #nomnom

It has an absolutely wonderful atmosphere right on a dock, by an old swinging railroad bridge. Very peaceful. It's wonderful setting. A lot of the other seaside restaurants in the area are just in the middle of a strip on the road and aren't any more seaside than if they were in Iowa. The seafood is great here and if you are here before 5 p.m. for dinner the lunch menu runs through 5 and the specials are quite inexpensive try the scallops they're amazing. I also recommend the lobster appetizer. Their key lime pie is pretty good too!

We had an awesome dinner at the Down under!! The crab legs were cooked perfectly!!The service was on time and our waitress was polite and attentive.

Went for late lunch/early dinner and sat outside. We had nice views, my child enjoyed seeing what looked like a small shark chasing fish. Our waiter was fast and attentive. I had local shrimp tacos, since I was starving from lots of hiking I enjoyed the big portion. I asked for Gf tortillas. My child’s plate had an option for watermelon and he was happy about that. Hubby and I shared steamed oysters. The musician sounded good too. I enjoy when a restaurant has live music. My new fav restaurant in Fernandina.

There was a little bit of a wait but we waited at the bar and it went by very fast. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp, Cast Iron Seared Scallops, Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna and the Grilled Ceasar Salad, delicious!!! I would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Although the wind was blowing at 20 mph on the deck, had a great time, waiter was "WONDERFUL" the food could have been better. The fried shrimp and chicken wings also the Salmon were said to have been great, can't really say, I had the grilled fish tacos, they were little dry. But a Good Experience and Great time with Family! Beautiful Sunsets!

I've had alot of fish and shrimp tacos from all over, but these ones were awesome. Highly recommend the blackened option, nice and spicy.

Enjoyed the live music and the breeze outside. Loved the salmon BLT and the oysters topped with panko and lump crab meat with a side of garlic butter. Yes! My friend has the steamed oysters and garlic shrimp. Drinks were tasty too. Would definitely go back for another very chill Saturday...

The hushpuppies were a must have!!!!!The place is very unique its definitely lives up to it's name down under. The shrimp was amazing I wish I had more or they were a little bigger other than that I loved everything.

Spectacular setting and wonderful service. We sat down and Morgan informed us immediately that they were short handed and service may be delayed. We ordered fried lobster bites, grouper and shrimp. It was all wonderful. They even had a band performing which added to the ambiance.

Looking for not only amazing food but amazing service? Then look no further than Down Under. This place has it all. Great food, awesome views, and fantastic staff. I cannot recommend this place enough. Next time you're in the mood for seafood do yourself a favor and swing by. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Seafood platter for two was delicious! Scallops, shrimp, clams, and fish all seasoned and cooked to perfection. This was the best seafood we've had AND a fun & cool atmosphere!

We stopped here on the way back to the Ritz Carlton and are we glad we did! The blackened seafood player and the soft shell cream sandwich were both outstanding. The drinks were great too. It's a hidden Jem for sure!! It's a casual place right on the water. Sitting outside was a pleasant experience.

Their staff struggled to get my order correct. I ordered buttered peas as my side, and received beans. Since they didn't have the peas they graciously offered me a salad and i pointed to the type of salad one of my fellow dinner guests had. What i received looked much different. At that point i just decided it wasn't my night to get the items i had asked for. I gave 3 stars for the quant atmosphere, and 1 star for their lack of attention to detail and ensuring the correct food was served.Recommendation: have the wait and kitchen staff train at (chick fil a) for a week to learn these important basic customer service traits.

Had a great time chatting with the server's and hostess. They were amazing!!! Such rude customers coming and going but they were always so sweet and accommodating. And the food.... Was some of the best!!!! I can't wait to go to the beach again and stop in for a meal. I definitely recommend!

It was a little hard to find maps didn't take us all the way there but when we got there was well worth the trouble. Great view with great food and drinks.

This place is awesome. Always my first pick to visit when I come home to visit family. Great location, atmosphere, and service. Definitely make a stop here if you are considering it. She crab soup is the best I have had anywhere.

It wasn't bad, and the locale and decor was fun. The soup we had seemed a bit too salty, and so did the food. The key lime pie was delicious.

I do not enjoy seafood but this place was absolutely fantastic. I had the blackened chicken breast, cheese grits and hushpuppies and they were all amazing. The server did not appreciate my dad jokes but that's understandable. The service was prompt and it was worth every penny. Highly recommend to anyone. Drinks were strong too. Kudos to the entire staff there

Food was tasty and our server was so nice! We sat outside and the deck is right next to the water, very nice. Also, there was no shortage of umbrellas or fans out on the deck. Would totally recommend!

The food was as good as the service. Oysters, drinks, hush puppies, and for the blue cheese chips only a few suggestions add salt, a balsamic reduction sauce and scallions, then on point.The staff we had conversation with are all super pleasant and outstanding. Great to see y’all are busy in this time.

My Mom and Dad were visiting and wanted Seafood they got their wish under the bridge on 200 and on the river(what a View!) Absolutely Awesome Fresh Fish Tacos. Incredible Seared Scallops and Yummy Fried shrimp and Hush Puppies..we were full and very satisfied when we left ..our Waitress Morgan was knowledgeable and patient with all pf our questions Thank You Morgan you are Wonderful!

This place was surprisingly pretty great! Stopped by here for pre game for a party of 12. We sat outside by the bar. The bar was relatively busy, and we still got great service. They have pretty cheap lunch specials which included 1 cluster of crab legs for $12. $2 off bar drinks before 4pm. Overall great experience. We will def be back!

This place has stepped up since the last time I was here, changed a 3 star to a 5 star! Hell yeah!

I wish I could leave no star! We will never eat here again. The food was overcooked on the fried food and undercooked on the other. We had a larger group and they add gratuity which would have been fine if the waitress had actually cared to serve us! Very rude service and gross food

Fun place to dock up the boat and eat. All the food is awesome. Right down to the kids grilled cheese and chicken tenders. Adults had the crab cakes and fried oysters. Yummy! And the train has gone by both times we visited. Fun stuff!

Everything about this restaurant was amazing from the view to the service and the food was delicious. Our server Calvin was extraordinary!!! We will definitely be back next time we come to the island.

Theyre hours on google say they're open til 9, but when you get down there theyve closed at 5:30. We came here to eat on Saturday at 7, the hostess told us they were no longer seating people for the evening, but that if we came back tomorrow we would be able to get a seat, so we show up Sunday at 5:45 and they have a sign out that says "sorry closed." They were very obviously not closed. I asked the same hostess what was going on and she said she didn't know. Then she literally told us to come back tomorrow...yes she recognized us from the day before.

Great view and atmosphere!! Our server was Morgan and she was very attentive and just a sweetheart!! Even though they were slammed she really made sure we were taken care of!! Food was really tasty and having a live singer was a great addition!! Thank you, Morgan!!!

The lobster morsels and the soft crab were delicious. We topped dinner off with excellent tart key lime pie!

Service was great. Crab cakes were tasty. Ambience was nice. For the price, however, I would expect more than one side dish per entree. Was a little disappointed.

Amy was my server and she was amazing. I chose a hamburger and it was the Best-Damn-Hamburger I’ve ever had in my entire life! Spectacular views, food was amazing and service was impeccable!
